Many people are still not able to install a Skin Pack or single skins.

Hey i couldn´t make it easier.

In last time i got more and more E-mail with questions about installing a Skin.

So i decide to make this FAQ.

If you have download one of my Skin Pack you also get an Backup Installer.
Make sure before Installing other Packs that a Backup is included.
Or if you want to change single Appearences make a copy of the original file.
So make a copy of the file or of Appdata Folder on your Desktop for example.
The Folders are :
C:\Program Files\Thoosje Sidebar V.###\Appdata or
C:\Programme\Thoosje Sidebar V.###\Appdata

Skin Pack installation ( Skin Pack with installer )

1. Download the Skin Pack from a Server

2. Close Sidebar (right mouse button click on the Sidebar not on a Gadget)
and then click with left mouse button on close.



3. double left mouse button click on .rar file wich you have download.



4. Open the Folder



5. Start the .exe



6. The installer will start. Go on with NEXT.



7. Importend !!!!! Check the Folder and choose the right Folder of Thoosje Sidebar
If you don´t have changed the Folder when you installed Sidebar it is:
C:\Program Files\Thoosje Sidebar V.###\Appdata
or C:\Programme\Thoosje Sidebar V.###\Appdata



8. Start Sidebar



9. Enjoy your new Skin



Installation of a single Skin:

1. Download with right mouse button click on image and save as ( tip save it on your desktop )



2. Rename it into _____.png (look at the list)



(This are the most importend files. If you want to know more contact me.)

3. Open the Appdata Folder of Thoosje Sidebar
If you don´t have changed the Folder when you installed Sidebar it is:
C:\Program Files\Thoosje Sidebar V.###\Appdata or
C:\Programme\Thoosje Sidebar V.###\Appdata

4. Make a drag drop of the renamed .png into the Appdata Folder. ( hold the left mouse button on .png and move into the open folder )



5. Click on yes



6. Start Sidebar and Enjoy your new Skin.



Installation of a Skin Pack without Installer :

If you have download a whole Pack without an installer do this.

1. Close Sidebar (right mouse button click on the Sidebar not on a Gadget)
and then click with left mouse button on close.



2. Open the Appdata Folder of Thoosje Sidebar
If you don´t have changed the Folder when you installed Sidebar it is:
C:\Program Files\Thoosje Sidebar V.###\Appdata or
C:\Programme\Thoosje Sidebar V.###\Appdata

3. Move the .rar into the Appdata Folder of Thoosje Sidebar.

4. Extract the .rar in this Folder

5. Go on with All



6. Delete or move the .rar out of the Appdata Folder

7. Start Sidebar and Enjoy your new Skin.

Not bad. In 5 hours only.

I have to say, that I had no problems with skins.

I only think that some changes should be implemented:

1. No version number in Directory Name when installing New Thoosje Sidebar => it will make Skins and Adds instalation easier for not advanced users (You don't have to care about wrong path in the instalator).

2. Bigger change: Possibility to have Few Skins in one time in different Directories inside Main Directory of Thoosje Sidebar => and selecting wanted one in Options (like Clock/Background). It should not be madly hard to do.

But many people had problems to install.
I am not an advanced user but those people must be absolutly beginer.

I think the main Problems are:
-Installting Thoosje Sidebar into another Directory than it is in the installer or an other Version #
(So your 1. suggestion is very good. I am not able to do it. Thoosje has to do it when he create the installer of new Sidebar)

- Sidebar isn´t closed when the copy or install skins
into Appdata Folder (or not started again)

But now it should be easier to install with this FAQ.

hey im totally new with vista and umm see how after u finished installing how come that "step 8" isnt to be found?

What do you mean step 8?

Skin Pack installation ( Skin Pack with installer )
in that section
i mean where does the icon ment to pop up?

When you install Sidebar you have this shortcut on your desktop.
Maybe you have delete it ?

Search in the folder C:\Program Files\Thoosje Sidebar v.2.3\
There you will find Thoosje Vista Sidebar.exe
Double click on it and the sidebar starts.

Very nice zeus.. only a little suggestions. do it on a English OS (Operating system (windows Xp))
