Sidebar issues and fixes
Q: How can I make it so that sidebar.exe run at startup
the checkbox in the program's preferences "Run automatically when Windows starts" doesn't seem to work?!
A: Problem is caused by the fact that sidebar.exe moves itself into temp, and therefore can not find itself again.
Firstly, make sure you uncheck the "Run automatically when Windows starts" option in sidebars preferences before proceeding.
Now for Z'Fix:
Open the run box--If you can't find this keep reading, it is explained below--and type "msconfig" in it and select "OK", then click the "Startup" tab. Uncheck all instances you find of "sidebar.exe" if you see any, if not simply click "Cancel", if so click "Apply" and then "OK". It will ask you to restart your computer, say "No" and continue on with this tutorial.
Note: On your next reboot it will say "Windows is running with custom startup(because you used 'msconfig')...yada yada..." Simply click "Don't so this message again" and click "OK".
Now click the start button/orb and go to "All Programs" then navigate to the "Startup" folder delete any sidebar.exe's in there as well. Okay, now that we've cleaned up the false sidebars, simply go to "C:\Program Files\Vista Sidebar" and left click on "sidebar.exe". Then Select "Send To >" and then click "Desktop (create shortcut)". Now navigate to your desktop and click and drag the "Shortcut to sidebar" you just created to the "Startup" folder in your "All Programs >" list.If you cannot figure out how to make a shortcut and place it in
Simply run the tool after you have deleted all traces of "sidebar.exe" in "Startup" and in "msconfig", and it will create a shortcut directly to the real "sidebar.exe" for you.
Q: Why doestn the Sidebar save my settings
A: Make sure you have the Registry File installed before you install the Sidebar you can also install the Register file after the Sidebar is installed but the Sidebar must be closed when installing The Registry file. Second make sure you dont have a Firewall or Antivirus blocking the Sidebar's actions. This problem somethimes also occurs on Windows Xp Without Service pack 2 its best to use the Sidebar on Windows XP Service pack 2 or Windows Vista in compatibility mode
Q: How do I add/remove gadgets to the Sidebar?
A: Simply click the "+" on the sidebars upper left hand corner to open the "Gadgets Window/Preferences". In here you can add and remove gadgets, to do so simply click a gadget once to show it (if it's one that isn't already being displayed, click it again to remove it.
Option 2 (for only removing gadgets):
Most gadgets have a small translucent "X" on the top right corner of them. Click that to close a gadget as well.

That problem Somethimes happends with people with low Screen reselutions solve this problem by closing the Sidebar and Installing the Install-This-First.reg file in the Sidebars zip folder. This problem shouldnt happen when you have the Registry file installed before installing the Sidebar
